I think ‘scum’ is usually emotive shorthand for ‘making a choice I find ethically distastful’.
And supporters of football teams you don't like
But really, it's actually are really divisive and offensive phrase usually reserved for people who are like, you know, fascists or something, not usually people who have filled a gap in the market and made a bit of coin, some of whom have even been quite decent about it.

Sounds about right, dont get me wrong, I'm not arguing that the current market is right, I'm arguing against the assumption that anyone with more (or less) is "scum".
