The right of having the security of owning the roof over your head should be available to everyone. A property shouldn't be considered an investment. There's plenty of other ways to invest why should the basic human right of a shelter be one of them. Its a big reason why we have a serious housing crisis in London and why we are in a massively over inflated bubble. Lets just hope it goes pop soon.
I kid, there are relatively ethical ways to go about being a landlord. The usual BTL model of the renter paying off the owners mortgage for them and covering costs/tax/etc is not.
