• Yeah fair enough. I want to mount a computer of some sort on my bars becuase I'm forever stopping to check my phone or map. I'd ideally like to use my iPhone because money. Also I hear Garmins are crap. Is the battery life on the iPhone a dealbreaker? Is there a consensus on here as to the best solution for accurate, easy to use and follow, long-lasting GPS that can be mounted in an unobtrusive way?

  • Get a Giant Neostrack £150 great bit of kit

  • Garmins aren’t always total crap but they have their drawbacks.

Wahoo seems like a good choice these days and is reasonably priced.

Having an iPhone on the front of a road bike will always look awful.

  • I use a Garmin but also a phone mount with one of two Android phones. Battery life is maybe 9hrs for the phone (not considering I can charge on the fly with a dynamo or spare battery). I use either RideWithGPS app or OSMAnd software.

I've not tried it yet but an app called Gallileo Pro was also recommended to me. All of these options allow you to store offline maps.
