Similar here, I usually have my stuff picked up from the local shop and all I did was tried to click that button... literally less than a second and it went from 2-3 to 4-5. But I see this as a blessing in disguise as I am really not sure about the facial ID thing...
And for a change, the website went live before the app, so I did it the old fashioned way...

Ah no Exeter, which is probably why I could get it quickly, I assume all stores were given a set amount and London stores would have sold out first.

You know facial ID has been available on android for years, right? I don't get it, throwback tech sold to the gullible...
That said, I'm tempted to try an iPhone next time I change handsets, not an X tho'... It'll be old...
