I once attended a frame builders' q&a session, involving several US builders (inc. Paul Shaffer and Keith Bontrager), and the guys from Pace.
One of the questions was, "Why do all you (US) guys build in steel, and Pace in aluminium?"Adrian from Pace replied, "Because that can only get aluminum over there; aluminium is much better."
It is a strong and lightweight metal often named using extraneous vowels.
I type this as I am on holiday near a very large deposit of bauxite. The locals pronounce the metal produced from bauxite the same way as I do. Aluminum it is.
