I'm happy for him and his purism but this is runners' elitist nonsense. I want to be part of something that welcomes people of all abilities and strengths. Sure enough the big companies are exploiting the market but I'm more than happy to run alongside anyone willing to move their body for any given amount of time.

I think he's entitled to that though, being an ex-world record holder. I feel like he's making a comment about the distilled essence of what running means to him, and how that is different to what a lot of people consider running, ie "anyone willing to move their body for any given amount of time".
In the same way people who race bikes, may not actually share that much in common with people who ride to the shops.

Thoughts?
I reckon he's bang on the money, even if I do enjoy using my Garmin watch.
