I used to idolise Mickey Rourke as a very young man, fuck me, what a guy... Ugh...

Hot on the heels of my admission that I knew James Corden fairly well in real life and thought he was a nice guy, I have to admit that ended up on a random night out on the piss with Mickey Rourke about ten years ago. I also thought he seemed nice. For the record, I didn't find out who he was until quite late in the evening. I'm not great with celebrities.
I need to take a long hard look at myself.

Mugabe is now a UN goodwill ambassador. Wtaf?
When he was harming black folk for the benefit of this country they saw fit to give him an Honour (MBE?). It wasn't until he switched that he became enemy#1.
(very condensed version^)
also tony became Middle East peace envoy....After WMDgate.

Very interesting read, the New Yorker tends to be very good anyway.

NYC mayor moves to ban e-bikes because they're dangerous, despite not actually killing anyone.
I suppose this is a bit like London banning mopeds on L plates; they might be an annoyance but they provide an easy way for people to start making cash and probably account for most takeaways earnings.

WHat is the deal with most mopeds being ridden with L plates on? Very rare to see one without.
-
• #49621
As long as you have L plates you can ride a 125cc with only an afternoon's training, rather than a full licence.

The Dutch government has several rules for e bikes.
Pedelec that have a max of 20 mph count like bikes.
Over that speed / if you don't have to pedal, you need some sort of license.
Some ebikes can now do 45mph and there have been RTC with deadly results as such bikes also end up in the usual more slow poke Dutch cycle lanes.
So there's an ongoing discussion ATM in the Netherlands, which also involves possible widening of cycle lanes.
