that article from the standard consists almost entirely of quotes blaming the victim / infrastructure, absolutely fuck all mention of the driver.
this non sequitur is a fucking doozy.
“Yesterday a pedestrian was nearly hit by a cyclist. She was on her phone. She waited on almost identically the same spot [as today’s incident]. The cyclist had to swerve around her and the cyclist was quite irate about it.

It is an impressive article isn't it:- Van runs over pedestrian, cyclists to blame.
-
• #19204
well, driver runs over pedestrian, but yeah, you're on the money.

Saw a guy do a very low speed slow motion cartoon style splat into the back of a white van because his brakes were so terrible. He bounced off and was fine.

ahhh school holiday bliss.... well that's until l got caught up in some sort of wannabe pro peloton full of cunts thinking Old Street is stage 1 of the Tour de France.

Forgot it was half term this week. Thought everyone had been raptured.

• #19208
How dare you? It's the T charge in action

Rapture would have been better.

Half term quietness was greatly appreciated around Crystal Palace and Dulwich. Much calm until the Fuckwit Funnel that is Walworth Road/E&C

Not the morning for a mudguardless mtb.
Splatterface/10
The wet jeans will be a lovely feature of my day too.

yesterday's ride in was glorious, so the universe shat out a big shitty dump of a commute for me this morning.
buzzed by 2 cabs on the first road out of morden, giant lorry parked on pavement blocking cycle lane behind south wimbledon tube so had to drop off a foot high kerb into an oncoming lane of traffic to pass, then riding through the big junction at tooting massive skip lorry accelerates past me as i clear the junction and am nearly at the double pinch point outside the lidl/aldi and pulls so far across that if i hadn't come to an almost complete stop to let him past he would have drifted straight over me as there was less than half a foot space between kerb and his wheels where I should have been as he went around the traffic island.
got undertaken by a try hard mtb dickhead in stockwell who was pushing his biggest gear to go about 23mph
then at the junction just before e&c on kennington park road a kingston wheeler knobhead decides the 2sq foot of space in front of my handlebars is obviously his by rights so he pushes through me and the guy 2 foot to my right nearly knocking the other guy over and ends up angled diagonally across my front wheel so i can't pull away until he gets his act together and straightens up after the lights change, congratulations on gaining a single fucking bike length you utter bellchief #acommutewinrarisyou
then when i get to office i was beaten to the only rack visible from my office window by one person so had to try and lock to the other side in a tiny gap between the rack and the side of the giant artic waitrose lorry parked cm's away from kerb doing their morning delivery.

Had a chat with somebody at the lights about the eternally parked cars on the way to work. I zoomed OFF to get in front before I got stuck by another parked car...
...met him at another set of lights, apologized for racing off (that's a fast wee bike you have...) and we wished each other a good day.

Been off the bike for 10 days while I gathered together the components to replace my freewheel, which had become gummed up with road junk. My own fault for using wet lube in summer and not cleaning it much. Never again.
Was lovely to fly along. The bus commute is about 45 minutes, shaved to 15 minutes by pedalling. Even the woman turning across my path at Loughborough Junction couldn't ruin the overall ride (though I will admit to shouting at her).

A cat(!) dived across my path forcing me to brake heavily, about time they introduce the green cross code for pets. Fucker.
Other than that I got buzzed by an absolute chief going up the ramp to Canary Wharf, only for him to get stuck in the queue of people rolling through the police check point, I kept behind him and watched him then accelerate wildly, changing lanes to jump the red light at the pedestrian crossing and go down the ramp to Isle of Dogs. Shit like that fucks me off more because it was all done in full view of Canary Wharf police who apparently don't give a fuck. This guy clearly knew that too and that makes it worse.

Getting overtaken by e-mountain bikes is becoming a regular occurrence. Seems they can cruise around at 25mph plus for long periods. Thought they only gave a slight bit of power at low speeds?
-
• #19219
The OTP ones are set up that way. But all sorts of tech-savvy-non-golfing-would-be-MAMILs are buying DIY kits off ebay and shoving 800W motors on their Tesco BSOs. Fucking terrifying to ride.

Thought they only gave a slight bit of power at low speeds?
Yep - motor by law should assist up to 16mph or something on the public roads and whatnot.
Whhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee FUCK OFF

I've posted this nobbish behaviour on the Kingstonwheelers forum and repped you for the use of bellchief, hopefully it may have some effect.

I mean he wasn't going to kill anyone by doing it or anything, just seemed entirely unnecessary and was the most 'must get to the front at all costs' move i've seen in a long time.
was the cherry on top of a massively shit commute but hardly worth calling him out other than in a minor rant on here.

A cunt should be told he is a cunt in as many different ways and from as many different people as possible. Specially for such a dick move.

Canary Wharf police who apparently don't give a fuck
They're not police. They're private security guards, with uniforms that ought to get them nicked for impersonating a copper.

Met an amazing woman on my commute today.
Does anyone know if the cycle passage between Old and New Bonds Street is coming back after the work they are currently doing? It would be really annoying to have to dismount there every morning to walk 20 feet across.
