More positively, Wiggle were cheaper than Amazon for a few bits. Had to buy gf a krypto mini, and needed innertubes and high5's.
Gotta say I was well happy to pay in £ but get the free delivery to rural Italy. Ordered Saturday afternoon, arrived today lunchtime by courier. Courier even gave an accurate 2-hour window for delivery.
They even remembered the Haribo.

Have they fixed the problems now? Was trying to buy a few bits but everytime I went to checkout it kept logging me out and emptying the cart. Ended up paying a bit more from my local bike shop which did include any Haribo..

I just went to my LBS to a brake cable that would have been 99p on wiggle. Didn't use them because I couldn't face paying p&p.
LBS charged me £4.99. Gutted.

Shoulda just filled the basket til it hit over £50 like I did.
I was only looking for a campa gear cable etc.
-
• #510
I did that the first time I bought the cable, as part of a bigger basket.
But, stupidly I bought a road cable when I needed an MTB / hybrid one. Idiot tax.

As much as I hate it, ebay is indispensable for things like single inner cables.
I know a lot of you will say I should go to/support the LBS but when they want £5+ for something that I can get on ebay for 99p and free postage...
On a related note, if you're looking for things to fill up your basket on CRC, they often have bmx brake cables for a quid or two, full length inner cable plus heaps of compressionless outer for less than lbs want for an inner.

They're buying Bike24 now

Can't believe they haven't put a bid in for Haribo. Maybe that's next on the list.
What I didn't get is that Wiggle are buying up these companies but a lot of the product they sell is never available or has a 2-4 week delay, if there are planning on getting bigger they need to sort out their supply chain first.

That should make German brands cheaper here.
Good news for Continental fans!

Those figures don't make sense.
The owners of Bike24 are unlikely to sell for less than 2 years profit,
suggesting the prediction of 'Euro85M profits boost' is fantasy. -

If you do support your LBS they won't normally charge you for a brake cable, at least if they're a decent LBS. Although a decent LBS probably wouldn't charge £5 for a brake cable either...

It wasn’t a fictional example, that is what I was charged at my (now, perhaps unsurprisingly, closed down) lbs for a brake inner. I’m not a regular customer but I am known to them as I’m in the industry.

Those figures don't make sense.
The cyclingtips drone copied the original bikebiz article incorrectly. €85m seems to be somebody's valuation of Bike24. As this is one private equity firm selling to another (Riverside to Bridgepoint), there's not the transparency you'd see in a listed company transaction.

I'm surprised Wiggle's product range is so shit.

Bloody Wiggle ordered some stuff paid for next day delivery wanted for the weekend. Just emailed them to find where my items are to find out that there are still having teething issue so have now cancelled my order due to one item no longer being available. Why cancel all the items. And why do I have to follow up. Fu7#ks sake.

Same thing just happened to me so I ordered from Evans, same thing happened. No new tyres for me
-
• #523
Ouch, but they do. I have / had, not sure which is which anymore, a long term loyal cutomer of a certain LBS, the guys had always charged me a pound a cable plus the cable ends and what not, sometimes for free depends on who I speak to. All of a sudden, last time they wanted £4 a cable and when I said to them I had always paid a pound a cable and even Evans wants less for the same thing, they would not budge and told me £4 is the price for a cable. I went to another not so local for me LBS in central London that I had only visited a handful of time, they gave them me for free. So I put money in their beer box instead.
I was also charged £3 a cable from another LBS last year when I paid around £1000 for a new F+F plus parts and labour to build the bike up... Still my LBS for now...

the cheek of shops charging for a product. how very dare they
-
• #525
Did you actually read the whole conversation leading up to my reply? Shops can charge whatever they want, but people go support their LBSs because they are usually small businesses etc, so for a long term loyal custome like myself who has spend £1000s over the years and all of a sudden, they want 4 times the amount for a cable, does that sit right with you? It's not about the money, it's a matter of principle. Shops can charge for whatever they want inded, equally, customers can shop wherevere they want. The biggest issue I have with said LBS is that they charge whatever they want with workshop items without a normal price tag, depends on their mood. So don't get on your high horse next time one of us say go buy stuff off ebay or Wiggle or what have you.
Nice! Well done them.
