Thats what I thought as well but loads of IQ-X's mounted upside down on the interweb were reassuring

I own both, got the edelux II on the fixie, it gives a fantastic beam which extends plenty far enough for fixed gear commuting but it will not illuminate anything above waist height.
The triple is mounted on an old cross bike, it’s crazy bright and fine for fast off road in the woods. I have a ten mile gently downhill return from the pub so I probably hit hippy speed and provided you aim the bright centre far enough away it’s a great beam, angle it down and you get the problem where you can see all the detail in the very bright centre but nothing beyond it. The light is uncontrolled so it will dazzle anything coming towards you and I’m sure Ed will be along soon to tell you it’s not road legal in Germany.
It depends what you want to do with them as they both do a different job very well.
Build quality they are both excellent, both get soaked and covered in mud on a regular basis and both stand up to it well.
Both powered by Son28.

No way to talk about @fussballclub like that

Thanks, good to know!

I plumped for another Luxos-U.
Risk of water ingress be damned, it will charge my gps/phone on the go...this is the shit.
doesn't matter if someone's leaking water in, mine's been working perfectly for over a year and been soaked in tsunami rain as well and beats clearly the Edelux II and especially USB Büchel which is basically useless in the dark unless you just want others to notice you...

Is that ever likely to be a problem for road use? Which one throws the furthest beam?

I bought an Edelux II a while back, it came with pre-finished cable to fit a SON28 hub, i.e. with the large spade connectors, on a coaxial. I want to cut them off to connect to the bare wire and clip socket connector (like shimano) on a Shutter Precision hub. Which of the coax wires, internal or external, will be going to the + inside the light?

I asked the guys at Spa Cycles about people having problems with the water ingress and they said that they had had a handful of returns but that B+M said it was due to user error in not attaching the cables properly or in not putting the rubber cable seal on the usb connector and water getting in that way.
No idea if this is true-I certainly had no problems with my last one so happy to take another punt on it.

I have both (I have the triple pro though) and agree with @Ramsaye
They are very different, if you want the longest beam / most amount of light the Supernova. If you don't want to blind anyone coming towards you, the Edelux 2. The Supernova is nuts on the road though, although I point it right down and burn the tarmac about 20ft away. It also flickers annoying at low speed and the stand light casts no beam at all, so just before you come to a stop everything goes dark, which is a pain when I get somewhere. -

Triple throws the furthest, edelux throws a dimmer but more controlled beam which is plenty far enough off road at 15 or on road at 20mph.

Hideous picture but after years running a Supernova setup, I'm actually happy with a AXA blue line 50. Cheap and not to be underestimated as the beam is pretty similar to more expensive lights

I have the Supernova already. I also have a battery light for when I'm walking up shit creeks during TCR. It's angled down a lot so I don't annoy those precious little sweethearts in their cars.
I was just wondering if the road-specific nature of the Edelux would allow it to be aimed higher and thus throw longer beam. Guess power still wins.
Thanks for the info. Might still consider trying other lights.

I believe Edelux 2 has the same internals as B&M Cyo Premium, which I have. The top of the beam is cut pretty close to the brightest part of it, so you can get it pretty high while still not pointing the top end of the beam that high. But still, when riding on small roads with short steep dwnhills that shraply curve at the same time, I want to point it so high that some seem to feel it's annoying. There's lots of light, but no too bright spots, pretty nice.

Anyone got an E3 Pure? I like the look of it it coz its small
-
• #994
My pal does. Is decent and dinky. Under the assumption that it's identical to an E3 but doesn't have an off switch? The Edelux is also very small but has an off switch.

"Plastic bracket broke after 15 hours" is not the kind of thing I will fit to my bikes.

Ahh it'll be fine
Very neat compared to the b&m one, takes up less space on the bars
