I did the first ~80km of the Capital Trail last weekend, it was the second hardest ride I've ever done. Headwinds from hurricane Ophelia as soon as we got out of Edinburgh. Had to call it off and get on the train back at Stow rather than continuing down to Tweedbank/Galashiels/Melrose as planned. Beautiful though, and I think the second half is supposed to be even nicer.
Edit: also my feet got very wet riding through streams/etc. so plan for that with plenty of socks and so on
Edit: also I had to walk some bits with 34/42 being my lowest gear. You might be fitter than me though.
