I might have some brake levers that you can have. I will drop you a pic tomorrow. Hate them wasting away in my shed.

are there any drawbacks to just slapping some black hammerite on?
It might not be the best adhesion but Hammerite can be painted directly onto light rust so I'm sure it'll be ok. Primer would be best though (preceeded by a decent clean and degrease).

Thanks for the offer, but I currently live in Switzerland, so that probably wouldn't be all that feasible :)

Thanks for the heads up, didn't think about primer. Will regular rattlecan primer be enough?

Primed the fork, just had about enough primer left for a somewhat even coat. In terms of brake levers, found a pair of Avid speed dial 5's, gonna use these for now with the adjusters turned all the way in.
Also noticed that the wheels I want to use are somewhat horribly out of true, will have to sort that out tomorrow. Decided to use a 44T chainring instead of 36, gearing should be similar to what I'm used to. -

Applied a first coat of paint to the fork yesterday, front wheel is trued as well. Can't get the cassette off the rear wheel, currently soaking it in WD40, will visit my lbs if that doesn't help.

Headset fitted (I absolutely love fitting crown races), front wheel is trued, still gotta do the rear. Also, I'm stupid and ordered a 7spd chain instead of a 9spd. Currently fighting with the ds bb cups affinity to crossthreading, might try a different bb (threads should be ok, there was another bb fitted when I got the frame).
Will post some pictures tomorrow. -

Been quite busy with uni recently, so not too much going on here. Managed to sorta fit a bb in there, ds threads are crossthreaded. Found a bb where the nds cup is fixed, so it sits straight, ds cup was threaded in until it had contact with the bb, so now it's not fully seated, but at least the bb is straight. This might sound like a huge bodge (most likely because it is), but I'm not planning on keeping this bike for too long, as I said as long as it takes me through the winter I'm happy.
As if all that weren't already uplifting enough, I found a crack in the rear rim, so gotta sort a new rear wheel out before I've even ridden the damn thing.
After finding myself unexpectedly without a road bike (granted, I sold it last saturday, so it wasn't all that unexpected), I decided that I needed something a bit more efficient than my old mtb to get me to uni and back. I'm planning on buying something "proper" next year, so this will mainly have to get me through winter, maybe more if I like it. Got this frame for free a while ago, not in the best condition but it'll do for now:
Never heard of fishfee before (neither has google), paint is actually fairly nice & sparkly, but has quite a few dings. The plan is to go 1x9, flat bar and 28s with mudguards. Would love to squeeze some mudguards in, but frame clearance is questionable:
Generally, I'm trying to go as cheap as possible, so using parts I already got would be useful. If I can use everything I'd like to, I'm probably only lacking brake levers, headset, chain, brake pads and a decent chainring. I think I'll try a 36T with 11-32 in the back (some hills plus my general unfitness demand compromises) and see how I like it.
Fork is raw right now, are there any drawbacks to just slapping some black hammerite on? (other than visual, but it's gonna look questionable anyways, plus I got the paint here already)
