Not quite. I also have a "well at least I got x years out of that thing before it died" scale.
My £30 ebay Shimano shoes are still going with some Gorilla Glue for example. I should be using the other ones but they won't die. Years of use. Good.
My metal Shimano disc brake pads last less time than my rim brake pads and cost 5x as much. They chew through the £40 rotors unless you're carrying spare pads and double my costs again. Disc brakes are a con (but I love them). Poo.
