What the shit? A whole house for £6500?

I'm considering having a partner move in - not be added to the mortgage yet (would probably look at that in a few years when remortgage time arrives).
How does it work in terms of them paying a notional 'rent' contribution? I am assuming the "rent a room" tax exemption doesn't apply when the room is shared? Not sure what to type into Google for this...
(I'd of course inform my lender, insurer and council of the change in residents)

You know when LFGSS does like a board group purchase on some bar tape or whatever... Well...

Oban is awesome. Kind of like a Cowes of the North without yachtie twats.

Thats pretty much the price of a 2-3 bed flat in Hackney...

I have no idea where it is. But it sounds a bit like Obi-Wan, which makes it even better.

• #20108
Exactly.
And I bet the riding is much nicer.

The bastard seagulls nick your chips though.

Hmm, wettest part of the U.K. doesn’t really make for great riding.

I knew a chap from Oban, he absolutely hated the place.
Mind you, we do change our mind as we get older, I quite like Winchester these days.

I'm in Manchester. I might as well be riding in the sea.

You can get one in the south of France for that kind of money.

The cooker/hob in our flat has started acting up - blowing its fuse randomly every now & then. Makes a zap sound & one of the hobs flashes. Not fun. Thankfully, it's on its own isolated circuit so it doesn't trip the electricity for the entire flat. Annoying though, & has meant that we've had to resort to the camping stove on the hob for a few nights to make tea!
Anyone else had any similar issues & how to resolve them? Ideally we don't want to buying a whole new oven when it might only be a single component. Call an electrician?
In the meantime, we've ordered another batch of fuses as a stop gap (annoyingly, they're awkward size ones so can't just pick up from a local hardware shop), going to see if we can figure out what element of the oven/hob it is.

We'd have to move quick, before they don't allow us in anymore.

What make is it? You might find that there are specialist engineers who come and service it for you. I need to do the same with a Neff

I chipped in when I moved in with my partner.
We assumed that the exemption applies.
If it doesn't, then I wasn't paying rent, I was just contributing to the housekeeping.

Yeah, it's a sham. I'm just disappointed at myself for finding so many properties that they market so appealing. I need to hurry up and retire.

Who on bloody earth would buy that horror show? I guess old people who are too afraid to live East?
-
• #20123
LOL at the 'East is edgy' thing, maybe 20 years ago? Enjoy paying £18 for a coffee and not going out anywhere to drink because it's full of Essex hen parties every weekend.
West is best, darling :-*

Really weird layout - what's going on with that hall, dining room and lounge. Guess you could convert it to three bed and add another bathroom.

So we bought a year ago, 2 bed house £635.
Two on the street have just sold with asking price £855 that have had a side return kitchen extension and a loft conversion with room over bathroom (making 4 bed, 2 bathroom)
Am I right to be taking this as positive!?
Monthly repayments less than what I spend on beer each month.
