Nah, it's legit.
One of the giveaways is the stem bolts, which are located at the non-drive side.

Does this actually work? Could I have a cassette on one side and a fixed cog on the other?
Considering it can handle braking forces I imagine it would be fine with skids/high-torque/etc.

Nothing wrong with riding 6 bolt fixed. However, finding a hub that with a cassette and 6 bolt disc mount that will fit your rim brake bike won't be easy..
