On the flip side, if you fanny about with it, don't fix the problem and find it has to go back anyway, you've just wasted more time.
Can swap in a different battery to test it immediately?

does 6770 derailleurs and 6870 shifters play well together? Will it work with a seatpost battery?
-
• #2629
Yes, the combination will work with a 10 speed cassette. Shimano has a quite comprehensive compatibility chart for Di2-stuff: http://e-tubeproject.shimano.com/pdf/en/HM-CC.3.0.0-01-EN.pdf.

The mechs need to match each other. The shifters just give instructions. I'm using a SW-R600 pave shifter to drive an RD-6870GS with no brifters at all.

Thanks. I can't tell from the chart, is RD-6770, FD-6770 compatible with BT-DN110 (internal battery)

Contacted Vanilla Bikes about a pre-order of the R8070 groupset.
They've said they can offer it to me at £1499 with calipers. cables etc. He says once released will be £1599
What is the hive mind about this? A good price, or do we think that others will have it lower?

What's the current Ultegra/disc setup at? What was it last year? What was its price at release?
That will give you some idea of the likely price drop. I would just buy it now because it'll be sold out for months afterwards anyway... -

If you're paying now, the interest they'll earn (or avoid if their accounts are net negative) on that while you wait for them to eventually have the gruppo in stock will eliminate the cost to them of that discount.

When you put it that way it is a good price I guess. Current setup is around £1350

Picked up a new frame which has a 30.5mm seat tube - what are my options for a DI2 front derailleur band on adapter?
I believe that's too narrow a tube for a 31.8mm Shimano one and too fat for the 28.6mm shimmed version. It's a Focus Izalco in AG2R livery and I've seen the AG2R team use band on ETAP where as the stock retail frames come with a braze on.
-
• #2638
You need to add 0.65mm worth of thickness all round the tube.
I'd use a layer of self-amalgamating tape (or insulation tape if you're cheap and you hate your bike, yourself and Tester), a few wraps of beverage can, then another layer of tape.

anyone used a ew-wu11 before? I can't get the bloody thing paired for the life of me.
-
• #2640
I've only used the XT (or was it XTR, but anyway), but I guess it's basically the same. Do you have the correct battery / mount (BT-DN110 or BM-DN100), depending if you have external battery or one inside the seatpost? External battery requires the correct mount, internal requires a new type of battery.
I'm not quite sure if it affects pairing but the newer battery/mount has more memory or something and it's required for wireless compatibility.

had to share this, some awesome customisation: http://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=146681&start=15

I looked at it. I read it. I have no idea what any of those mods achieve.

He attached both a SRAM MTB cage with clutch and a XT cage with clutch to a ultegra di2 rear derailleur. So you can use a di2 front road derailleur with it.
Also he put di2 internals in SRAM hydraulic (doubletap) shifters.
-
• #2644
So, first is for MTB and 'cross where clutch helps avoid chain drops?
Second one, he likes SRAM shifters but wants to use them with Di2 deraillers so converted them.
Ok, that's a bit clearer now. I think. Maybe. Fuck is it beer o'clock yet?

yes (and bigger cassette range) and yes

So I got an eTap build today for a customer’s old bike.
She insist on running her old Shimano 10 speed 5700 compact hollowtech II chainset.
Warned her it may not be idea.
Wouldn’t you know it, eTap shift really well on it with no problem despite stories from other mechanic about non eTap chainset not fully optimised.

Does anyone have any recommendations for handlebars that work with the di2 bar end junction box?
Struggling to find any internal cable routed bars that aren't covered in decals or aren't £275 (pro vibe carbon). Bontrager Race Lite Aero look like they might, but they seem pretty heavy and I'm not a huge fan of the aero shape.
-
• #2649
I bought ugly 3t aeronova
Still not had time to check that I can route cables through them for the bar end charger port.

Indeed
Deda SuperZero Alloy - £65 ish from Sigma, or £30 off eBay if you’re lucky
Extremely stiff, pretty light, nice accommodating internal routing holes that (I’m really hoping) will even do hydro nice and tidy.
Have had Pro £8908763738 ones and sent them back as for the £ there really is no real significant benefit to the SuperZero other than the round profile.
The SuperZero profile is Aero without being obnoxios - and I HATE Aero profile bars.
Well if I can fix the problem without having to send back the battery, wait for a new one etc I'll favor that. Plus the shop that built the bike (and I guess would handle warranty etc) is now even further away from me than it was since I moved. Eugh electronic shifting...
