  • Bring your climbing legs.
    Hilly but boring parkour

  • eugh feeling distinctly unmotivated

80km on mtb yesterday not helping

  • Well done @jon.

Course was hard work. A lot of climbing.

  • haha, thats what the starter said too, but i got the bike on Thursday, and did 100k on it yesterday so not exactly fresh as spring chicken, i was the third biggest sandbagger today so speak to them first, mega embarrassment they actually had a podium for us! will be back with the grownups next week or week after, hoping for a interesting course next time!

  • also, seem to be struggling both on road and off with WTB cross boss 35mm, is it me or they a bit to grippy for their own good!

  • mega embarrassment they actually had a podium for us

    hawkward

  • I thought the 14 year old girls looked awkward on the podium until I saw the picture a clubmate took!

  • It's 30 extra in the central league!!

  • Evidence of mechanical doping apparently.

There are some stupid people around, that’s for sure.

  • oh no they didn't?! that's facepalm-worthy...

  • A dickhead called @EnacheVladian on Twitter. He sees motorised doping everywhere.

  • Well done @jon.

Thanks! Not my favourite course. With a feature or two it could be a really good. As it is, it's a bit too much all about that hill.

File treads would have been faster on the course yesterday, provided you could get them around the corners. Bear in mind that the seniors race is the last race of the day, so tends to see the worst conditions. I'd stick with the Cross Bosses if I was you, they're a good all-round tyre and the high-volume means you can be a bit less smooth with them than a 33mm tyre. Just don't expect them to fly along on tarmac.

Because no one else has ever crashed on that descent in the same way before, obviously.

  • Because no one else has ever crashed on that descent in the same way before, obviously.

Clearly. Apparently he accelerated without pedalling too.

Honestly, these people are moronic, so convinced that they're onto something that they put aside all sense and knowledge of the laws of physics and post utter drivel.

Anyway, if you're going to use a motor anywhere at Zonhoven, surely you'd use it going uphill in the sand?

  • Honestly, these people are moronic, so convinced that they're onto something that they put aside all sense and knowledge of the laws of physics and post utter drivel.

But how else are they gonna get any attention?

  • is it me or they a bit to grippy for their own good!

    Pedal harder

  • Anyway, if you're going to use a motor anywhere at Zonhoven, surely you'd use it going uphill in the sand?

The motor is evidently a 4-wheel-drive to improve traction, so very useful downhill.

  • You're a bundle of helpful advice aren't you, looking at my power vs others I was pedalling pretty hard but going slower, some of that is technical skills and some of its being a fat time trialist just wanted to see if there was something obvious i was missing out on kit wise.

  • Heh. Cross is hard. Unless you are at the pointy end, in dry conditions tyre choice will make little practical difference. Pressure on the other hand...

You can get obsessive about things like tyres and other kit which is kinda fun but Cross is a cruel mistress and there's few if any bits of kit that will make a night / day difference when you are starting out.

  • You rode a novice race with a power meter?!

  • If you've got it, why not?

  • What are you going to learn from it? That cross requires lots of short bursts of high power with micro recovery bursts in between? I can tell you that for free right now.

Plus if you’re starting out in cross there are much better performance enhancing things to spend your money on.

    Skinsuit.

  • Doesn’t seem to have worked for @Ramsaye ...

  • What do you mean? He looks fabulous.
