How do you know the council cut it off?
Is it council property?
Do you have any evidence you left it there? -
• #4578
The men on the front desk told me that they had cut it off. They left the extension cable though which the men on the front desk gave back to me.

Did they have contact details?
Which council was it?If it was me I'd try find out as much detail as possible. There must be guidelines and procedures once you know the details you can make a case from there. I'd want to know under what authority they could do that without signage or warning.
That said if the lock isn't very valuable maybe just go for a more straight forward approach. -

Also see if you can get cctv of you leaving it there for a matter of hours and that it had not been abandoned.

That's what the reception person told me. I need to go back tomorrow and take some notes in written form so they can't change their story. Wavelengths in deptford Covered by lewisham council.
@furious_tiles thanks for that. I just asked them for cctv footage and they said that's it's their policy not to give out footage to anybody who is not the police. When I explained to them that their company policy is overuled by government legislation they still didn't really want to take it on board. They obviously have no idea what they are doing there.

Sounds like you should be asking to talk to someone higher up the chain sooner rather than later. Nothing would suck more than finding they've wiped the CCTV.

Sound like a right shambles.
Explain they’re legally obliged to provide it and if they don’t you’ll just bill them for the lock. -

Isn’t that one of the cables use by bikers (motor version) to remind them they have a disk brake lock in place?

A De Rosa with carbon wheels and Di2, locked up after dark solely with one of those minimal combination locks through the frame. Seemingly with GoPro and lights still attached too.

This afternoon the council used an angle grinder and cut off my lock that was on the bicycle stand at my local gym. I left it there this afternoon some time after 1300hrs because I knew that I was coming back for a class this evening. There are no signs saying that left locks will be removed. Do they need to pay me for a replacement or more to the point am I entitled to funds to replace my lock can anybody tell me please. Thanks in advance.
