  • Thanks (and you Ed). Looks much better without. Added dirt I can do :)

  • Lost it round a slow left hand turn this morning, out in Essex lanes. There was a film of mud on the road, and possibly other stuff as well.

Probably just bad luck / bad judgement on my part but it has got me wondering if Schwalbe S1 Pros are a bit poor in the wet? They were sliding a bit going up clean, wet roads in Wales and today the break away was very sudden.

Interested if anyone else has found this.

    This is why you slip.

    Drop your pressure between 10-15psi.

I found certain road surface varies in grip even in the dry.

  • Yes, I should drop the pressure. I find the feel of lower psi strange but having hit the deck quite hard today, maybe I can get used to a bit of squidge.

    25c 85/95 psi, 90kg at the moment.

  • Another sidewall cut on my GP4000S II. Getting kinda tired of that.

Alternatives similar to GP4000S II? Schwalbe (Pro) One? Are Michelin (Pro4 e.g.) any good these days? Not too expensive please.

  • I have used schwalbe one and Michelin pro 4 (endurance). Both great tires for the intended purpose, newest Michelin pro tires are supposed to be better tough

  • Anyone got a shimano rs10 front wheel they're willing to let go?

  • Gravelkings, rubinos or schwable pro one probably

  • What would be a 30/32c equivalent to GP4000? If there is one?

  • 28c Gp4000sii on atleast 19mm internal. Would balloon up to easily 30+

  • I've got those at the moment, so am after something similar, but a tad bigger.

  • Pretty much anything at that width will feel slower because of how fast gp4ks are, but Hypers or Gravelkings are usually the forums go to fast wide tyres

  • Challenge Strada Bianca? Not quite as racey but not many manufactures making pure race tyres in 30mm.

  • 32c Marathon Supreme roll reasonably well if you want to err on the side of excellent p*nct*re protection. Think I've just gone over 5,000 miles without a single one.

  • Challenge Strada Bianca

    preaching non-tubeless ?!

  • I'd want to avoid anything overly stiff and puncture-proof, and head down the lightweight, smooth tread route. 32c Hypers appeal more than Gravelkings and Marathon Supreme. 30c Challenge Strada Bianca seem to be near 400g, I've had MTB tyres that weigh less.

  • Pro 4 Endurance are amazing tyres for everyday London and, well, endurance riding. Plus they're quite cheap these days. CRC has a deal for one tyre + one inner tube.

  • Shitty TPI tho

    320 or GTFO

  • Tpi isn't everything

  • Based on how the 38c feels, i think the schwalbe g-one 30c should be a good option

  • GP4000s is 31mm I’m wide rims (least on mine).

  • @daveaa the internet says the 30c G-ones come up a bit small, and they're rather expensive. @edscoble I've already got 28c Gp4000s. 32c Hypers, or maybe 28c Pro 4s, as my 25c Pro 4s come up bigger than my 25c GP4000s, seem to be the best option.

  • TPI IS EVERYTHING

  • the feels bro

    THE FEELS
