  • Did you do this?
I was hoping to get a quote for a bit of Fillet Pro and some System 48 flux for practicing braze ons etc

  • No, I'll do an order and include yours. But fillet pro is expensive and not necessary. It is nice tho

  • That was just recommended to me. I'm only practicing so any silver wire will do if there's cheaper

  • It is super nice. You will have a lot of flux for a long time.

  • Well I don't want to spend a lot so open to other suggestions

  • Anyone knows the wheel clearance on the Richie Issimo 2 fork crown? Ceeway doesn't give the info, can't find on internet either.

  • Here's the list of what I got off Ceeway, the u brake bosses are already sold and I've used one pair of the J+3RP brake bosses with removable studs.

Additionally I have some stainless mudguard/rack mounts and a singlespeed disc mount.

Everything is listed on ebay so if you want to see pics, I can provide links, don't buy off ebay though, like I said, I'll do cost price plus postage for forumengers.

Photo cropped so as not to broadcast my address over the internet.

  • Anyone need/regularly order anything from ceeway? I'd like to have a go at brazing a disc mount (the V4 I think) on to a pair of p2 forks

  • Is that a longer one?
I got one through JD Mitch on here. Haven’t collected or paid him yet and I don’t need it any more but it’s just a standard one. For a rear I think.

  • As seen here

  • This one

  • Okie doke not to worry. FYI it’s not recommended to add disc tabs to normal forks. They’re not designed to take the extra force

  • Thought that might be the case hence the long mount. Apparently it distributes the braking force better

  • "Just braze that sucker on!"

RIP in peas, swet prinz :(

  • I have one I’ll sell you for what is cost me (£8.87) plus postage (£3) if you want.

  • 4evar wiv da angles etc....

It's strongly reccomended not to retro fit disc brakes to non disc forks, the legs are very different, as are the loading forces.

  • So out of interest what structurally would be the difference between a pair of kona p2 disc forks and the canti only versions? To my untrained eye they look very similar

  • In that example probably nothing, but the issue would be if they had specced thinner walled tubing for the canti ones. It's more a problem for the style of forks above, but just bear in mind that fork failures=instant firey death. Really not trying to put you off modding stuff, I think it's great fun but just be extra careful with anything that has your weight behind it when moving.

  • Cheers @coldharbour. Judging by the weight they're the triple butted versions = 0.5mm tubing at the dropouts?http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=100565
If hadn't got them for free I wouldn't even consider it but as it is I think I'll satisfy my urge to fuck with things by sorting out the rear brake cable routing. Much safer :)

  • 0.5mm wall thickness is 953 thickness, so unlikely. Not sure where he got those numbers from, and happy to be proved wrong but doesn't sound right to me, especially as they will be welded on to the drop outs at that thickness in the scenario he gives.

  • I've just had a look at the forks and they're definitely much thicker than that. They're also very short and have not a lot of steerer which accounts for the weight. And they're untapered. I'm going to do it

  • I have some Surly forks that I'm tempted to braze a disc tab onto... but worried this will be the outcome. this is the fork i think.

Sounds like there's no way to know whether they'll be strong enough.. would go for the extended disc mount like the one beetletype posted

  • Going to cycle over to ceeway later in the week. Anybody want any thing while I'm there?

  • Is ceeway generally open? Within offic hours.
Looking to pick up a fork crown.

  • Usually, but I usually give them a call to check.
