There's usually enough space in the ASL to park sideways in front of the car that is obstructing it without leaving the box.
It also holds the driver up for a few extra seconds as you straighten up to pull away, hopefully encouraging them to do it right next time.
Not recommended at peak commute hour, or in front of a HGV, obviously.
