• The sidewall does all the work - the rubber seems to wear away through the constant deformations and after a while you can start to see the ply (?)

I get this on all hardworking tubeless tyres - a week in the Alps on an AM bike and you can really see the sidewalls suffer.

  • I suppose if you wanted to get rad at the end of the day before you set the tent up...

  • Losing 4 psi/day now.

  • Which is about normal, irrespective of tubed or tubeless, no?

  • Still not put sealant in mine. Should I test it on a Chilterns ride this Sat?

  • Doubt it. I leave my tyres for months between inflations and they only lose 20 psi

  • As the pressure in tyres drops the rate of pressure loss reduces.

  • I know.

Tubeless are already running lower pressure so they should leak less if that applied to them as it does to tubes.

  • 4psi/day is more like what my latex tubes would be losing.

  • I lose more PSI with latex than tubeless.

  • That matches what I've seen with the Pro One I've had sitting there in my lounge. With sealant it should lose even less?

  • My pro 1 tubeless loses like 10psi a week .. maybe I have too much sealant in or something? Single layer of tape on HED Ardennes rims.

    Latex: 5-10psi a day
    Tubeless: 10psi a week
    Butyl: FUCK OFF.

I currently commute on latex (YOLO) but going tubeless soon.

  • I only run latex tubes on TT wheels. Too faffy for anything else. Lose lots per day.
Cheap Butyl on everything else. Lose fuck all per day.
Tubeless still sitting untouched in my Fear of Change room. Middle ground.

  • Which is about normal, irrespective of tubed or tubeless, no?

    Yes, I'm happy with this.

  • I'd say my S-Ones lose about 10 Psi a week too. But my cross bike used to lose way more with several tires. Commuted on it in some really rough paths, so maybe it depends on the usage too? Or just the tire/rim interference, who knows.

  • Really did not enjoy this enema.

  • That Stans thing leaked over the valve and the sealant had all drained into the valve before I needed to squeeze it anyway.

  • Looks like valve is not aligned to tyre logos. Take the tyres off and try again.

  • Looks like you don't know your tyres well enough, nor my obsession with lining up valves to logos.

  • Banned

  • 2 x Hutchinson Secteurs mounted and sealed on WTB i-23. Almost alarmingly easy, front went up straight away with a standard track pump and the rear needed another wrap of tape.

  • I might return that Stan's Syringe for leaking.

Regarding syringes - should they be washed out or what? Does the latex stuff harden over time if left alone?

  • I wash them out, leave them to dry in their constituent parts, dunno if that's required though.

  • I dismantle and chuck in the bucket of soapy water I used to get the rim seated and check for leaks. After a few days I empty the bucket and let the syringe dry out.

    Lazy as fuck but clean.

  • It becomes a disgusting rubbery coat, may as well clog the siringe. Rinse all when you finish, same for any stuff that drips over the wheel
