  • Yeah I've seen this. I was just wondering since I'm doing some work on a frame soon but I'm aware things are looking a little orange on the inside already so I need to sort it out before preventing more.
    Is acid stripping likely to actually remove any rust?

  • We outsource dipping and get mixed results because there are so many variables.
    I'd hate to give any kind of definitive answer because it doesn't really exist.

  • If it's just a bit of surface rust, waxoyl or similar should sort it - use a hairdryer to warm the frame tubes and make sure it gets to the extremities. Bob Jackson recommend Dinitrol ML, which comes in an aerosol; you can get an extension hose which makes it easy to get into all the nooks and crannies. Both Waxoyl and Dinitrol seem popular with Land-Rover enthusiasts, so they are both presumably fairly tenacious.
