Ta. Think I'm gonna keep mine and do a sort of flat bar 650b mtb-lite type thing. Did you have to change the fork to get knobblies in?

I share your back pain.

That's kinda my less aggressive position. About 10mm up and 10 in from the road position. It's not crazy though; whilst the drop is large the reach is long - proportions innit. It looks more extreme on the pinnacle because the frame is so compact

Move over you knobbly bastards. New shoes for the Dawes; forum favourite's DTH (in 2.1 flavour.)
Thinking I could have fitted 2.3" but mudguards still to put on .. we'll see.
Pizza rack out for delivery, off to Stayer for mid-fork eyelets next week.

Just come home with my latest frivolous Ebay buy- 1990 hardrock ultra. Twin fork eyelets, utterly pristine condition, bargain price.
In theory itβs a perfect fit for me with drops as a monstour and with sweeps as a winterpocalypse commuter for LadyLiz.
Well chuffed.

It also matches Lizβs normal hair colour which is kinda rad.

Although it doesnβt need recabling it needs something garish as fuck. Same goes for tape when it gets drops.
The hugely erect stem needs to go but itβs pretty much perfect. Group is bottom end but itβs all staying. What works easier with drop levers, Canti pull is same as calipers right? Will need to find some 3x7 levers. Microshift? Bar end levers? Always convinced Iβd wreck them in minutes.
Original levers will go on the sweeps for Liz.The only scrapes look like where something booped it in the garage, I doubt itβs done more than a couple of hundred miles. Has original tyres an all, complete with mold fuzz still. I forgot to get it off him but the guy had the user manual too.

I absolutely donβt need this bike. I have a lht for proper touring which works flawlessly and a 27.5+ ogre for off road fun and theoretical bike packing quests(only one night on it so far).
Liz doesnβt really need it either- troll for touring and mtb/bike pack(hugely versatile with just a tyre and mudguard swap) and a charge mixte for commuting.
Plan is to whack some sweeps on for winter if liz wants fatter tyres than her 28s. Sheβs had old mtbs before and always comfy on them. Sks would be nice(just sold a pair, dβoh), looks like itβs got clearance for the spiked schwalbes in the cupboard if things get cold.
Will slap a wald on it for now, we both have one so can pop it on if needs be.Iβm gonna wait for the dirt drops @Alb mentioned a few posts up and build it into an instagravel tourer. Between us we have 2 tubus rear and a tubus tara front pannier rack so all itβll need is a little front carrier. Or if liz is running the tara on her troll I might get a nice front rack thatβll take panniers too.
All I need is new cockpits.
