This is just the same as why saville and other monsters got away with it for so long. Culturally, people have never stood up to this sort of beahviour. Hopefully this will change.
When I was a kid, there was an old man who used to pass by fairly regularly who would offer sweets and generally be a bit creepy. Our parents (as in of the local kids, we all still know each other now) used to chuckle and tell us to stay away from him because "Old Smokey likes little boys". Seems amazing that it wasn't seen appropriate at the time to do anything about it. People knew that he had a history of child sex offences, but he didn't get jailed for it because nobody turned him in to the police...assuming that 1980s police would have done anything about it.
People just don't seem to feel an individual responsibility to do something until they become aware that somebody else has taken the initiative. The flood gates open...

there's a thread on the twitters from Terry Crews who alleges to have had his junk felt and propositioned up by a big shot hollywood producer in front of his wife. Terry confessed that he was too scared to say anything because he was afraid no one would believe him and it may spell the end of his career.
Terry is a 6 foot 3 black man built like a brick outhouse.

If it's systemic as you suggest. Speaking out would have a detrimental effect on your career.

The audio tape published of him was from a police wiretap; the DA office did not take the case forward. Same DA who who dropped Ivanka and Jared's fraud case = Cy Vance
Vance, and his representatives, insists that his reasons for abandoning the cases are valid and have nothing at all to do with lawyers for Weinstein and the Trumps giving him significant campaign contributions.

Any reply to that question was going to be tough, probably picked the best response

Exactly. The casting couch has been around for as long as Hollywood.
Everyone knew it went on.
Immense bravery from the first person to call him out on it.

^^ It was a genuine(ish) question - not a complete troll - although greenhell is obvs a massive racialist

The family of Jessica Weir can only dream of that kind of justice

fair do's. I mentioned it because i was poorly paraphrasing his own comments.
Terry Crews on the matter:

paraphrasing
You don't paraphrase Terry.

• #49469
i'm learning that now.
also: how high do you have to be to feel compelled to grab Terry Crews of all people by the meat & two veg?

Jeez.
Sounds like my old boss.

It's a bit weird. I can't really visualise the context. What would the embarrassment be?

At the 2013 Oscars Seth Macfarlane (Family Guy) had bare Weinstein jokes
'Congratulations, you five ladies no longer have to pretend to be attracted to Harvey Weinstein,'

No way is it isolated to Weinstein; it's a whole scene in LA. I bet a bunch of other Hollywood big wigs are shitting themselves right now.
Many many women don’t report rape or sexual assault sadly. I’m not sure I’d expect celebrities to be an exception
