Been lurking on here for a bit passively soaking up advice as I need a new low maintenance commuter and general tough runabout through my work's cycle scheme. I saw Cycle Surgery have the SS Nicasio for £500 - anyone have any experience with them? Or if you've tried the 2x8 version or rather regal-looking hub gear type with the swept back bars how were they?
I was actually leaning towards a Day One since it's already got guards fitted and has a good rep here and elsewhere but:
a) saving £200 (plus the cost of guards) would not be unpleasant for an impoverished NHS worker like me, and:
b) the Nicasio looks subjectively to me like it might be less attractive to thieves.
I actually currently ride an old dinged up Marin hybrid; it gets me around fine but is definitely not a smooth ride in any way so I don't have any particular brand loyalty at play.
