  • I am sure there are a number of other big hollywood producers etc who are now extremely worried - hardly likely that Wienstein is the only one.

I am also disappointed that the likes of Angelina Jolie, Paltrow etc haven't called him out before now. Surely they were secure and powerful enough to make the allegations rather than waiting for others to blow the first whistle.

  • They’re just regular people at the end of the day. They may still be troubled/scared etc irrespective of their public persona of strength

  • This is just the same as why saville and other monsters got away with it for so long. Culturally, people have never stood up to this sort of beahviour. Hopefully this will change.

When I was a kid, there was an old man who used to pass by fairly regularly who would offer sweets and generally be a bit creepy. Our parents (as in of the local kids, we all still know each other now) used to chuckle and tell us to stay away from him because "Old Smokey likes little boys". Seems amazing that it wasn't seen appropriate at the time to do anything about it. People knew that he had a history of child sex offences, but he didn't get jailed for it because nobody turned him in to the police...assuming that 1980s police would have done anything about it.

People just don't seem to feel an individual responsibility to do something until they become aware that somebody else has taken the initiative. The flood gates open...

  • If it's systemic as you suggest. Speaking out would have a detrimental effect on your career.

That's a bit victim-blaming. Weinstein wasn't the only guy doing this, won't be the only creep they've had to fend of carefully in their careers, it's a thing at all levels of the industry. Victims risk law suits and public ridicule and even the most famous actresses have less secure careers than their male counterparts.
