Buy fatter tyres.
edit; or skinnier guards.

They're retroshifters I think. Front shifters are usually friction AFAIK since you can trim it for cross-chaining and there's only either 2 or 3 positions anyway. Not much point indexing it.
Rear could be indexed but that's not relevant to the decision between a triple/double

ust tried 26" P65 SKS and found that they sat way too far from the tyres. They're too wide anyway so need to find a different solution.
Buy Bluemels in the right width (depending on your tyre width). How far the fenders sit away from the tyres depends on how you fit the fenders, and the clearance between the tyres and the frame. Like @Batt said, buy (wider) tyres that fit the frame plus mudguards.

i really dont like 1x setups for long miles.... its much better roll in 50x 18 or maybe 44x16 than 34x12 the cassette last nothing and you can feel the increased drag... all my bikes have double or triple and friction front shifter, thas the way to go....

I've been avoiding your cp thread so I don't get the deep jealous feeling in the pit of my stomach, gonna have to swallow it up and go and read, looks incredible

you seem to have fewer panniers than before :P very jealous! how are those tires?

I'll post a little ride report asap!
I left most of my shit at a friend's place in Tehran and took only things I knew I'd use. Those tyres are super mega awesome for the road but as soon as you hit uphill gravel you wish you had some knobblies. They have about 4,5K on them and I reckon 1 or 2K more before they wear out

My problem with front derailleurs is that it requires that both hands to be used for gear changes and I need to keep a hand spare hand for croissant / cappuccino / focaccia / {insert liberal elite foodstuff trope here}

I'm quite tempted to dump some stuff and keep the setup like this

Dura-Ace 7803:
The winner takes it all.

Repost but too good.

Finding a 7803 chainset in 175mm was the dream until I realised it's inner ring is a 92 mm BCD and mounts to the middle ring. I reckon the 6603 or 5703 are the best bet - 130/74 mm BCD and hollowtech II.
Nonetheless, a stunning ride! -

These are for sale:
53t outer. 😅
-
• #16794
That's real pretty that. Want.
-
• #16796
What parts? You can get octalink bottom brackets everywhere
-
• #16798
Yeah the splines are like 5mm deep. You can still get bottom brackets from CRC or Wiggle iirc
-
• #16799
Yeah, but they're ~£30 for the v1 ones...
ST is £10 and while not quite as good, are good enough for what I want. If I cared I would skip octalink for hollowtech -

Took my new build on the Lon Las Cymru over the weekend for some credit card touring.
Need some lower gear for sure.

I don't think they are friction shifters since they have the black brake lever. And for a lot of us those steps between gears are fine..
