it will work but it won't ever be as nice, just buy this: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/311283/

Other option is a JTek shiftmate
Or a Lindarets Goat Link.
Or buy some second hand 9/10/11 speed Shimano MTB rear mechs and see if you can get one of them to work acceptably.

Post mount. No go. Seq uses flat.
Link to where you got the intel on that it will work please.

Jtek can't mix brands afaik.
Goat Link is for Shadow+ 10sp derailleur only
MTB and Road does not mix 1:1. Different ratio pulls. Also Shimano -> SRAM really doesn't mix.
I'm not buying Shimano mtb rear + jtek when I got the Force 1 rear mech on hand.
I just need a solid yes that it works from someone who has it on their bike.

Sorry Howie, needs the flat aesthetic

I guess that's because CX:ers will bang their calipers to hell and back and don't want the pistons to go and shit themselves midrace.
Not really what I'm after but cool thing nonetheless.
Also, just got an answer from Todd on Wolfteeth and he said flat out that it can't be done.
Problem is that their webpage for that product says it will.
Either Todd hasn't spoken to R&D or they're BS'ing about it.

I don't understand. You're foregoing a whole gear system....because you want to use a specific derailleur?
-

yeah, better to trade the SRAM Force 1 to an equivalent shimano mtb I guess.

That's still messy. Can't just chuck an MTB derailleur in there. Cable pull is different. Shimano doesn't do 1:1.
Just get something like an M8000 cassette and a roadlink, get rid of FD and double and bob's your uncle. -

I got an M8000 11-42t but on the tech page on Wolfteef it says not supported which is strange as the total capacity for the 105 RD 5800 GS is 37t. I guess it has to do with the derailleur messing with the spokes or something?
Hi all,
I have a Sequoia Elite that comes stock with the 105 5800 GS rear derailleur but I want to go 1x and got the Force 1 rear derailleur from another project that I want to fit.
As the levers are Shimano RS505 I can't use them out of the box because 1:1 they don't work.
However, I read on the Wolftooth Page that their Tanpan inline adapter also works Shimano - > Sram.
Anyone had success doing a pairing that way and how is the shifting affected?
