(This same issue reports on the huge rise in pedestrian injuries and deaths by people on cycles. Deaths rocketed by 50% in 5 years)

From 2 to 3 then?

Public inquiry commences Tuesday.. .quite a big ting imo
-
• #34
Anyone gonna turn up?
-
• #35
Would it be helpful?
I'm not familiar with how this kind of thing is supposed to work.

It's very rare for things like this to go to public enquiry. So it might be useful to go as we may see more of them in the future. Overall there was overwhelming support yet still it's gone to enquiry so it'll be interesting to see what's discussed it was the black cabs that put there weight behind it's disapproval.
Sadiq khan has caused a shift in cycling infrastructure and there has already been a noticeable change in priorities and new and future programs such a nine elms have been noticabley sub standard.
That blonde haired twat don't seem too bad now. -

Did you go? What was it like?
-

I wish I could.. but work commitments. it was quite a shift for it to go public enquiry. So I was hoping I could get some feed back.
That black cabs have put quite a bit of effort to stopping it despite overwhelming public support. Let's see what happens.
All the cycling infrastructure so far that is in the pipeline is legacy of Boris .. sadiq at the moment is showing more interest in buses. -

Am I missing something or is the Imperial Hotels barrister just representing the hotel chain?
It seems a costly effort for something I can't see making a huge difference to their business.

Imperial Hotels' submission was 100 pages:

on-coming platoon of cyclists
-
• #46
A platoon comprises about 20 people. Which is kind of accurate for that cycle lane...
-
• #47
I've only had a quick scan through that but they don't seem to be against the cycle lanes (they seem to be pretty much accepting of them and don't really comment) but instead want the direction of the one-way street switched to westbound rather than eastbound.
Seems a lot of effort for that, I'm not sure if there is some ulterior motive I've missed.

Reversing the direction now would mean starting from scratch with a whole new scheme, with new modelling and planning, Camden are ready to go start digging up roads with the current plan...
Also reversing the direction would have a lesser effect on lowering through traffic as it would be more convenient than the current setup.

Related to this, work has started on the west end project - turning Tottenham court road two way, banning most vehicles (except buses), and putting cycle lanes down the adjacent Gower Street.

Just a heads up that Camden are voting on keeping or scrapping Tavistock Place tonight. Is anyone heading down?
