  • There is no reason for this. But I had a pair of nice gumwall tyres that needed a bike to sit on.

I was given the frame as a complete.

Everything was fucking shit, but strangely enough it was ride-able. And even more strange was that geometry seemed great. A little slack perhaps, but as forks are very long I decided that it would be worth taking it apart and try out the frame with a different pair of forks.

  • THIS is now my main current project thread:

    Quick mock up. Bad photo.
Idea is to make this in to a 700c x 36c rando bike with mudguards and a little rack for a bag out front.

Wheels are Novatec on Mavic A119.
    I will run this with frog legs, DA 7700 cranks, 1x10 SRAM Force/Rival 42 x 11-32.

I have bought this (but item hasn't arrived and seller is not responding).

I am hoping to pick up these forks very soon.

I will make the steerer longer and run it threadless.

  • Very cool. Will be following this.

  • Hopefully the new forks match the paint well.

  • Nice, keep us posted!

  • I think these are darker. But that will just be a more towards the homage of @Paradroid

It will obviously not be the same tyre or wheel size and I won't be using pink bartape either :-)

  • @velocio has the best hybrid shopper bike, made by Robin Mather

  • He has the first hybrid.

But now everyone has an overpriced hybrid with drop bars that we call a gravel bike or something.

  • he has one of those too

  • Well, this is about the opposite. This is about taking something shite and tweaking it into something rad.

This will be my fast commuter + rainy miles in Regents Park bike

  • Are you suggesting he took something rad and made it shite?

  • the old forum?

  • Oooh burn

  • still mourning for rep?

  • Sounds fun, I expect this will turn out great.

  • I just realised that another thread is called this so I'll change my title.

    Also, I have bought this:

  • Headset has arrived. Yay!

  • make sure you have something to install crown race with

  • I normally use an alu tube. Worked a treat for my 1 1/8" version.

  • Awesome project!

  • block of wood + hammer

  • Yeah. A block of wood with a 26mm hole in it is even better.

  • Thanks. Just down your alley I guess. I will make a little rack for it as well
