Yeah, I have seen some people use a junior cassette ( 14-28) with the biggest sprockets replaced with a spacer

Yeah but isn’t it a red cassette? The whole thing is a solid block, you can’t remove cogs. And a different cassette with some removed is probably just as light

Another win? Congrats 😸

166g for Dura Ace 11-23, with half sprocket removed, and alu spacers added, 110-120g? Not worth it I guess.

could the garmin be lost to save weight?

Missed the course record by 12 seconds, very happy with a 07:30 though.

Strava or it didn’t happen.

could the garmin be lost to save weight?
Or better yet, the Garmin Edge 20 with less zip tie?

My ride at the national last year didn't happen :(

I imagine that would be alright with a piece of strong double sided tape on the top tube or stem.

I could just swallow one before each race. One per weekend might do it actually.

strong double sided tape on the top tube or stem.
Even better, velcro strap.

Oh right. My legs found climbing out of bed a bit of a challenge this morning so don’t expect too much at Catford and Bec.
-
• #418
1.5 seconds quicker than last year, but I made every mistake in the book - over geared for the finish, wheel slip on the steep bit. Ach well.
Must do better at the Bec to maintain my HCing happiness.

Ouch! can feel you, still you are quicker than last year.
I realised there's one overlooked aspect of hill climb; tyres pressure, what do you run your at?
I got mine at 35psi on the 25mm tyres, seemed to provided just the right amount of grip without slipping/skipping.

35 on 25mm?? That's a puncture, I'm pretty sure...
-
• #422
25mm, I don't worry about puncture on hill climb when you're out of the saddle putting all the weight on the handlebar, I run the front at 60psi for this reason (weight 70kg).
When the rear was inflated at 60psi, it's a little hard keeping the rear wheel down when out of the saddle to sprint at the start and halfway, plus more grip is hugely welcome (like a dragster actually!).

65psi with 23mm and latex tubes. Just had to concentrate and slow down a bit to get traction.
Bec is dry and there aren’t any really steep bits so I’m going with 70psi.

65psi with 23mm and latex tubes.
Latex definitely helped, didn't have some so end up dropping to 50psi on the 23mm in a previous hill climb that was barely enough.

Yaaaas! Pulled it back in the Bec getting the landmark sub 2 mins. Knocked ten seconds off last year.
12th in both I think. Fast guys are fast.
I wonder how much lighter it would be if you just run 5 cogs instead of the full 11? (adding spacers on the hubs).
Have you ever used the 11t sprocket? only ridden HC on fixed so can't says!
