IMO they nailed the pacing. Considering it was pretty much a 3h film I got so immersed it carried me through no problem.
Bearing in mind it took me 4 attempts to watch Bladerunner, I'd always pop the dvd in late at night and end up falling asleep within the first hour. I thought it was just me but since learned that it was notorious for it's slow pacing.
My God that cinematography though! Every scene was meticulous. The digital billboards, the Wallace headquarters with the light moving through it, the abandoned hotel ...

I had the feeling that pacing wasn't consistent, (original BR was just all around slow) BR2049 was ok for the firtst hour and half-ish followed by a dead-spot and sped up again till the end. You could go as far as saying that they had to edit bits out to keep the total length bearable for broader audiences.

Villeneuve delivers, can't wait for his Dune adaptation.
Pacing throughout the film is a bit off, but photography is sublime. Lighitng, color grading, cgi, score are all amazing. Quite like the gritty design of the 2049 dystopian future that builds upon the original idea.
