That sounds expensive, wouldn't you be better off leaving the PRS as it is and getting a new guitar?

I bought it new about fifteen years ago and between being a good customer of the ship and there being a small chip in the finish at the time I got €1000 off the RRP so the way I'm looking at it is it will still have cost me less than it should have...
the problem is after fifteen years it's very well worn now but the PRS poly finish does not age gracefully, it's tough as boots but once it does start to finally wear it just looks crappy.
On top of that the only things I'd be interested in buying now are either Collings or high end Fenders so the refurb will be cheaper than either of those too! I'm kind of settled on the idea... -

Blues Junior...
Anyone able to recommend an alternative or worth looking elsewhere for a small valve amp?
I'm after something with a nice clean sound and capable of taking some fat overdrive sounds, think along the lines of Dumble tone (c. £99,500 cheaper though)

Have a look at tube-tone-engineering

That Redneck 50 Over-Drive Special looks absolutely ideal!! I hadn't been looking for a stack and it's a bit over my intended budget but it's very enticing for sure! C. £1500 for a Dumble clone with cabinet is not bad!

Had a strange desire to listen to some Madonna today...Realised that it's Guy Pratt who plays some awesome bass in Like a Prayer

mind blowing. how do you resist not playing every fucking note? I've been working this out because i just love the song. Think it may have been originally played by trevor horn on the album.

Thanks, that is rad! Never noticed that bassline before.

Pondering building myself a MIDI foot keyboard thing out of an Arduino, hooking my guitar up to a audio interface and running it all through Ableton Live or something. Then I'll just use plugins instead of a bunch of guitar pedals. Will it sound shit? Will there be too much latency?
-
• #5069
I've been playing through the guitar rig(s) in Cubase, they're not bad sounding but even with a really decent interface there's enough latency to feel a bit weird on some patches.
Not sure I'd be up for it playing live.

I'm mostly a bedroom guitarist so not likely I'll be playing live regularly. I'm guessing the latency will depend somewhat on the computer in question? The latency isn't bad when I run it straight through without any effects but I guess as I stack them up and start doing looping and things like that it's going to become slower and slower. The problem is it's hard to test properly without the MIDI thing because I can't play and press keys on my keyboard at the same time. Unless I put the keyboard on the floor and smash it with my foot or something.

You should be ok looping, it's things like complicated time-based (flange etc) and IR stuff that takes processing power.

artificial harmonics?
anyone?
is there a rule of thumb s I can know how to play an AH anywhere?
Im basically doing it like a pinched natural harmonic / wrong -

Okay, FY6 Superfuzzes are pure monsters in pedal form. Huge huge tone and a head melting amount of fuzz. Lovely bloom sound as well, where the octave comes into play under the fuzz.
Well recommended. Utterly shames my other pedals and their (now) puny outputs.
Decided rather than selling my PRS Custom 22 and losing my shirt with second-hand values on them I'm going to have it refinished in amber tinted nitro lacquer with a faded shell pink top and natural maple binding, ivoroid butterbean Waverly tuners, Hipshot Baby Grand bridge and pickup holes reshaped to soapbar size with a set of cream Lindy Fralin hum-cancelling P90 pickups with no rings...
I'm quite excited about this, it's the best playing guitar I've ever owned but I'm kind of over the whole mega flame, flashy flash PRS aesthetic and I really fancy some P90s so it's going to be a win win outcome hopefully!
Thoughts on a nice small valve combo to go along with this resurrection job? I'm leaning towards a Princeton Reverb maybe but to be honest something smaller again would even do the job...
