I considered a surly but I read that they are the same width as EAI i.e. a bit too wide for the threading on the mavic hubs.
@Rik_Van_Looy interesting and good to hear that it seems to be a problem with the EAI cog rather than the threading which makes things less complicated.

I had exactly the same issue with an EAI Gold Medal Pro and Royce hub. I managed to get the cog on but not without a lot of force.
I haven't needed to take the cog off yet but I've not had any issues in almost 4 years of riding it.

Ah yes that’s true, I used it to correct my chainline running 75s on a centaur bb.
