That's what I figured, but can't see how it's tangibly different to an mtb 1x setup. Both 11sp, both 135 o.l.d. Anyway, I guess it's no bother if it doesn't interfere with wide stays / tyres / guards which I can probably figure out with a quick CAD mockup.
Generally road chainstays are a good bit shorter than MTB chainstays which exacerbates the problem.
Considering 1x on an MTB already has problems in the largest sprockets (i.e. can't back pedal without the chain dropping off), I'd stick to the proper cranks.
