When I'm in a situation where I may need my brake, which to be fair, isn't often, I'm on the tops.
Mostly I'm on the sides (roughly where hoods would be); headwind, hills or giving it some beans = drops.
I see. I very occasionally use the tops and that's only when one-handed-eating on longer rides, or climbing. Hoods the rest of the time if not in the drops for me. Maybe its a fit thing
