As I understand it, that new fangled Rival 1 stuff uses a road chainline (43.7mm). What I don't know is what the effects of using one and/or a mtb crankset would be, for smaller gears and bigger tyre clearance.

Anyone got the knowledge?

MTB cranks in single ring setup will use a chainline of around 49mm

I know, but what I says asking was whether that would play havoc with the rival gears, given that they're designed for a road chainline, or is it not that important on 1x configurations?
