If you like doing things the long, hard, expensive way, sure. Why not turn the central heating on to accelerate the process whilst you are at it?

It depends how badly 'frosted' it is but my old fridge would take about 10min with some hot water and a scraper. It's hardly breaking the bank with elec costs for me so I imagine someone running two dehumidifiers would laugh at the opportunity to use up an extra 0.05p worth of juice.
Also modern freezers defrost while they're on automatically.

You can defrost a freezer with it still turned on.
