• Look forward to hearing more about how this rides? Was all set on getting a Spesh Diverge, but just saw this on the Orro website, with the newer Ultegra £100 less that the 105 specced Spesh and comes colour correct for me.

Will let you know when I've ridden it more. Right now I am wondering why Orro used a 150mm rear axle, which means I need to get the rear on my second set of wheels rebuilt with a new hub because you can't convert a narrower Hope Pro 4 to 150mm, you have to buy a new hub. Bit annoying.

Fortunately LBS might be able to sort me out with a cheaper than normal hub through a trade contact. Don't get why they didn't use 142mm though as that's the emerging standard.

  • You sure it's 150mm hub spacing on the Orro? All their builds are shown with fulcrum wheels which aren't offered in that config. If it's 12x100 front it really should be 12x142 rear

  • Spec said 12mm front and rear, i'd have thought it's 142mm, as they're becoming the norms for road disc.

I kept thinking "this can't be right" so I spoke to Orro this morning. It's 142 - but the axle is 150mm long, which is what caused the confusion. I asked if they were definitely sure and they were - the chap at Orro found the idea of it being 150mm quite amusing I think!

Entirely my fault as I should have just asked Orro in the first place before I even got hold of the bike, but it doesn't help that my LBS don't have much experience in thru axles yet as they're not really a MTB type shop and they're such a new thing on road bikes. Good news though, just need to order the Hope 142 conversion kit now.
