Aw c'mon, so many diy things will work for that.
Bits of plastic from old garbage cans, or tires, or steal some Brony's stash and use the tail from one of them horses.

Have home made mud flaps gone too far?

Could use a front axle lifter system like you have in those fancy sports cars.
