That sounds promising. If the soil is in good order then you can just manure and the worms / frost will do the rest. This is a great time to take one on as it gives you plenty of time to set out paths or beds or whatever while everything is dormant.
If you want to start growing stuff and like beans you could try getting in some broad beans next month to overwinter, they'll give you an early crop next year.
What sort of condition is it in?
If it's overgrown and needs digging over, get cracking now as long as the weather's dry. If it's already cleared then spread a load of horse muck on it.
