What's the value of your bike?

Maybe £100 or so.

I bought OnGuard Pitbull 8008, security rating 85/100, £23 on ebay including 120cm/10mm cable to secure the wheels. It came with 5 keys, as I tend to lose one key every 2 years, I'm sorted till 2027. I registered the lock immediately so If I lose all the keys I will get replacement for small(?) fee.

Anybody got recommendations for motorcycle / heavy duty chain and lock combo?
Ideally under £100.

So work have a garage with door lock and one of those ground bolt bars, CCTV which is watched by our receptionist.
Inside said garage is a bike rack, steel but one where you put your wheel in and bike stays in riding position.
What's my best course of action?
My bike is worth about 2k -

Ask them whether they can fit ground anchors or Sheffield stands? Though if it's locked and covered by CCTV I'd probably risk it; you could always get a heavy-duty chain you could leave at work and use to lock the frame to the stand.

Yeah kinda figure if they got in to the garage it's game over anyway.
Are there gold secure chains? -

https://securityforbikes.com/security-chains.php#UltimateSecurityChains Pragmasis have a good reputation (and occasionally post on here). There are some very beefy chains on there.

I was looking to buy a Pragmasis chain and one of their D-locks. Does anyone know if their D-lock comes with any clamp to enavble it to be carried on a bike? Alternatively are there any decent aftermarket lock holders? I already have a holster but it doesn't help when your wearing lycra.
I emailed Pragmasis to ask this question nearly 2 weeks ago and have had no reply.

For my Bakfiets I've got some Abus city chain thingy that weighs about 2 kg and is gold rated; think it was about £100 a couple of years ago. If I were looking now I'd go to Pragmasis and get a suitable chain and lock.

That's what I thought, and have read positive things about them as well as helpful advice from them in this forum. I am however put off by the lack of a response to my questions sent to them.

From my dealings with them you're best just calling them. When I have they've been both helpful and knowledgeable, even if I made it clear I probably wasn't going to buy anything there and then.

Sincere apologies. I was about to say I've got no idea why I didn't get a notification about recent posts on this thread, and then thought it might well be caused by us moving our web/mail server a few weeks ago and the new anti-spam system doesn't seem to be as reliable as we'd like. I was also on holiday around when you e-mailed, so that probably didn't help. Apologies again.
No, to answer your question, we looked into some ideas about a lock holder but decided that they are getting more and more compromised by the new shapes and sizes of frame tubes such that many D-Locks that do come with a frame bracket don't work on a lot of bikes now anyway. Your mileage may vary, of course, but we also had another example recently of a mainstream manufacturer's D-Lock bracket breaking and falling off a bike whilst it was being ridden, very thankfully without any injuries of other serious consequences.
We have a Restrap "lock holster" for testing and intend to offer that for resale, assuming we don't have any problems when we finally get round to trying it properly.
I'm always happy to hear feedback and ideas on this, and this is an excellent forum for exactly that.
Oh, perhaps I should say we've almost sold out on the new DIB D-Locks, so if you do want one, despite us not having a frame bracket, you might wantt to bear that in mind. We will have lots more stock, but it'll be close to Christmas. Apologies on that score, too.

Many thanks. I already have and use a holster - think it came from Restrap - it functions well, with my mini lock but is useless when in full cycling gear. I think initially I place an order for a chain but need sort the length out first.
Thanks once again.

You're welcome. Useful feedback, so thanks to you too. Several people have said when they're out on a proper ride they won't need to lock the bike so a holster/bracket isn't relevant. Keeping our bikes next to us on a cake stop has been OK for us in the past, but it is a restriction for sure.
We did research an idea suggested by @GA2G, actually, wrt a bracket but couldn't get the dimensions to work on a range of frame sizes. Plastic moulding is tricky due to tooling costs and you need so many adaptors with the variety of tube shapes these days and that compounds the problem, so we've not got any good solutions so far, I'm afraid.
I'm more than happy to bounce ideas around e.g. if anyone knows another manufacturer that has a strong bracket that will fit an 18mm diameter shackle? (The steel on our DIB locks is 16mm diameter, but there is a rubber cover so the OD is 18mm.)

Does anyone have the new Kryptonite New-U locks? Seen them on their site but can't seem to find many online.

also interested to know :)

Great to know you can pick one of they locks but then again if a thief really wants it they will get it.

Looking for a new lock myself, but need something I can leave outside on a bike hoop 24/7. Are these waterproof, would they be ok if left outside?
cheers
I've just done a search to see if a break in via a key safe would invalidate your insurance. The answer is "unknown, never been tested in court". That leads me to believe that robbery via defeating one of them is rare enough that I am unconcerned by it.
YMMV, I'm a die hard optimist.
