  • Mammals bring food to their newborns, Frenchs bring Croissants to their co-riders.
The bike ride like a charm.

  • I want a French friend

  • More pics of the croissants... And the bike

  • @Heldring I will !

  • @danslecarton I may come in England bringing croissant if you give good weather and a shelter!
Anyway, here we don't have kings and lords anymore but still pretty cosy castles.

  • I could give you shelter and far better weather in Germany ;)

  • Nice bike, more pictures please!

I've been thinking about your long-distances-on-fixed-gear project lately as I've been doing some myself on my daily commuter (up to 250km, 300 next month). 44x17, generally fine but I have been choosing my rides to avoid any crazy steep bits. It's loads of fun, and now I want a fixed gear that's better suited for long distances (mainly, bigger size, with clearance for bigger tyres, and mudguards mounts too).

  • I'll do more pictures soon.
I had a pompino for a year and I really enjoyed it. Hence the current project, this time lighter and more road-ready. There is a common misconception about fixed though, lots of people thinks is suitable only for flat rides. I find it nicer on hilly rides. It's also less boring because your cadence is not the same during all the ride

  • I would love to bikepack accross Germany!

  • i did 1500km in 10 days (germany -> france -> spain) with 45/17 some years go, felt good

  • Am actually riding 46/17... Feels good

  • This is a fantastic thread - look forward to seeing more.

  • And I'm proud to welcome "El Diablo" coming back from dead-lands....

  • Sometimes you just want to try your new bike and plan some rough stuff. Huh. Not a good idea.

  • Looks fun! Are you currently doing the Paris - Brussels - Lille - Le Touquet trip?

  • @danslecarton Yup ! But I leave on Friday.

  • Job done !
It was an enjoyment and the bike rode like a charm. I will do a report soon I think, but somehow I managed to loose 100Kms on my strava file, while riding from Brussels to Gand to Geraarsbergen.

  • To sum up this trip, may I account for our love of Maroilles. It's a French cheese, eponymous of the village, sticky and odorous yet full of calories. Our first attempt to find some invaluable cheese was irrelevant. Only the uncompelling perfume of the cheese got to grips with our beloved cycling apparel, as the cheese itself was dull and overlooked.

We draw upon a trusty Bicky Burger to solve this clumsy try.

  • It may not be perfect English, but I just love the way you write.

  • I would be glad to improve it :)
