Is that near London Bridge Station, by the Hospital?
-
• #4553
Yup!

• #4554
Surely you'd still take the wheels and locks home!?

Wasn't sure where to put this, old bill in Norwich just arrested a bloke for bike theft on the Haymarket, he was carrying this:

I'm obviously as useless a bike thief as clue guessed.
What's the deal? -
• #4558
Just a crap lock I guess?
-
• #4559
Terrible lock, qr-skewer wheels unsecured. In a bike theft hotspot.
-
• #4560
Is it actually locked to anything, can't clearly tell from the photo.

No good in wet weather though. 5/10

Those bolt cutter look a bit overkill for that lock, could have just sneezed at it and it'd have broken.
There was a Haibike, probably £2.5-3k worth, locked up outside my work the other day with a similar lock.
Dumb AF!

It would be a very odd frame that could fit between those two wheels.

Looks like a hefty piece of kit. Would they get through a D lock?

I heard bike thieves used to use General Electric bolt croppers, dirty great massive things about four feet long, untold leverage, like a hot knife through butter.

But bolt croppers still not enough for the largest chains: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDBRI3cgw1o
Angle grinders will always win eventually though...

Not even locked, just witnessed the owner take the front wheel off and go into the store.
When she came out I said she should lock it properly, her reasoning was that without the front wheel it's harder for a thief to run off with a bike.

And they’d look pretty conspicuous. Not sure I’d try this method tbh.
-
• #4573
Too heavy a chain to carry on a bicycle commute for some though.
-
• #4574
Ah, the ol' shoe-lace lock through the quick-release wheel lockjob. Classic.

Walked past that last week. Also took a photo. Much sadness.
