Resin infusion is really the only proper way to do wet lay. It's quite high investment in kit though for a hobbyist.

I can ask him, but I suspect the answer would be 'no'. He's a busy chap. Also, given the shape you'd need to make a multi-part split mould from the pattern. I'm sure there are carbon laminators out there who'd be able to do it though.
Yep, a friend of mine is getting pretty good at doing vacuum resin infusion, and the inside surface quality is very good.
