Tbh it always left me a bit cold too.
On the general judging dammit and his cars; I totally get the logic of picking your car and getting it the way you want. Obviously you could always spend a bit more and get something better as stock, but that's also on paper - irl it's easier said than done.
Bad rust aside, I'm not sure I'd have worried about the body as much until all the other work is done. But that's me.
Anyways the important thing is will it have the bendy spoiler when it's finished?
