It's the opposite of that tho. He gives all the fucks. And he thinks journalists should too because they are actual people and they probably know and love other actual people and one day they, or someone they love, might need help from the state.

The fact all the journalist could do was giggle might mean he doesn't care, but it might be just because he hasn't stopped to think about it properly. I bet he's thinking about it now. Maybe that little exchange will change him.
