Guess she must have read the stories in the Flemish newspapers on the day before the race, insinuating that there was animosity among the Dutch women as to who could/should be the rightful world champion.
“I gambled,” Garfoot admitted. “With three Dutchies, the odds were stacked against me. When Blaak went, I thought Van der Breggen or Vleuty surely wanted the win more and would chase her down. I didn’t work, because I had decided to gamble.”

I don't think it's chance that the high-profile racist behaviour mentioned comes from countries that seem to be hotbeds of it.
-

But fuck I hope Mathieu van der pol switches to the road soon because he is making cross super boring by being so good.
-
• #14255
Yeah to paraphrase; I thought I was only being a bit racist which is fine, plus I had a pretty decent time during my suspension. Seems like a lovely guy.

Switzerland?

And leave Wout Van aert to win everything?

Steve Cummings has just won the opening stage of the Giro delle Toscana.

Here's Tom Pidccok's race schedule; interesting to see how he goes
-
• #14261
Is he riding seniors this season?
-
• #14262
Actually, "belofterenner" does seem to be U23
-
• #14263
He's a first year senior so will be riding the u23 races.
It'll be interesting to see how long he stays as an u23, as if he's as good as we think he is, he'll quickly be competitive at the full Elite level.
(Comparing lap times is never a scientific approach, but I think his lap times at the Nationals in January were faster than anyone else. Obviously course conditions play a huge role in that though, and the seniors always get the worst course conditions).

yes I think he'll go the same way as Van Aert & Van der Poel, won't be staying in the u23 for long...
although extrapolating junior wins to future palmares is bit of a crystal ball affair, they got it right with MVDP (but I don't think anyone will ever match his 2012-2013 season)

What a stupid and self defeating rule.
What next, no tattoos?

I came across few examples of beard hating people in the last few years, all have major roles in the bike industry.
Ok all of them are 60 years old plus, but it's funny thinking that few of their sponsored pro tour riders chose to sport a beard against the sponsor's fetish with shaved and shiny faces. -

The airline my sister works for has real recruitment issues for cabin crew, which isn't helped by their no-visible-tats rule.
-
• #14270
Never wanted to ride for your shit team anyway ya daft bastards.
-
• #14271
Everything I've heard from Pidcock's dad makes it sound like he'll be heading to concentrate on the road much more/sooner than MVDP or WVA.

I haven't read this but Jose Been on twitter says Gilbert staying at QS for two years to target Paris Roubaix and Milan San Remo. Not sure what that means for Alaphilippe, Stybar etc.
-
• #14273
There's an interview with him in the latest Procycling where he says exactly the same thing. I don't think either Stybar or Alaphillippe will have much choice, it's standard tactics for Quick-Step to have multiple leaders in a race.
-
• #14274
And Alaphillippe is more a rider for the Ardennes Classics anyway isn't he...definitely more crossover with Stybar
-
• #14275
Alaphilippe did pretty well at Milan-San Remo this year. I think he'll prove himself able to win across a similar range of terrain to Gilbert over his career.
"the accusations are not completely founded"
What does that even mean? He used racist shit to slag Reza off but not the racist shit he was accused of using? Did he only go half racist? WTF?
