Exactly, 50 miles might be a major inconvenience but that woman made it sound like a journey to the end of the earth. Always thought of it as such an insular place, England's 2nd biggest city that no one ever wants to visit.

Hard to have any sympathy for people when they had 3 months notice to plan things. As if they couldn't deal with the road being closed for a single day of the year.
But most people were really nice, standing out waving, clapping, giving us sweets, drinks etc.
